The Rookies, Lihue A’s, and K-Makules each left Isenberg Field with wins on Saturday to maintain a three-way deadlock in the Senior Softball Standings.
In the first game, the A’s squeaked by Kawaihau 13-11 with the help of a gritty effort by winning pitcher Buster Matsumura. Paul Awazu got the loss for Kawaihau.
Pete Rayno smacked a two-run homer and notched two hits in the game. Glenn Akina went a perfect 4-4 at the plate; and both Tomo Hiranaka and Yoshishigi had three hits.
Richard Boro had three hits for Kawaihau and Mamo Matsumura and Hank Arruda paired hits.
– Dado Paiste did it all for the K-Makules.
He was the winning pitcher and went a perfect 4-4 at the plate to boost the K-Makules to a victory over East Kaua’i.
For the K-Makules, The Remata Brothers had hot bats: “Lefty” had a three-run homer on three hits, and Doric had three hits.
For East Kauai, “Sonny” Labuguen was the losing pitcher but went 4-4 at the plate; Les Kubo, Steve Lizama and Richard Kaui each had two hits.
– The Rookies topped West Kaua’i 15-10 in the final game at Isenberg Field Saturday.
Archie Fontanilla picked up the wini and Joe Silva took the loss.
Ray Espino socked a three-run homer on three hits; Dickie Sialana had a soler homer and three hits. Both Walter Souza and Wally Sonoda had three hits.
On Saturday, the Seniors travel to Eleele Park to play in another three-game series. West Kaua’i (2-4) will take on the Lihue A’s (5-1) in the first game (9:15 a.m.). Kawaihau (0-6) will face East Kaua’i (1-5); and the K-Makules (5-1) will meet the Rookies (5-1) in the final showdown.
