A memorial service is at Hanalei Pier this Saturday, May 25, at noon, for missing boater Mark Brewer of Kapa’a.
He is feared dead at 47 after being lost at sea for nearly a week.
Family friend Steve Baker flew to O’ahu Thursday to retrieve the 22-foot power catamaran Brewer owned and had planned to sail from Nawiliwili Harbor to Ko Olina Harbor last Friday on his way to Moloka’i to pull escort-boat duty for a Moloka’i-to-O’ahu canoe race last Sunday.
Brewer was reported missing by his family last Saturday night, and U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue personnel located the boat last Sunday, but Brewer wasn’t aboard. He also wasn’t found despite four days of intense searching by boats and aircraft.
All are invited to the Saturday service, a family member said.
O’ahu services are set for Wednesday, May 29 for Llewella Naukana Zablan, 76, of Kilauea, who died at Straub Clinic & Hospital this week after being injured in a two-car crash near Princeville Airport earlier this month.
An autopsy was scheduled Thursday to determine the cause of her death. Kaua’i services are set for Friday, May 31.
