The National Pop Warner Association recently selected Sherwin Kaleo Perez Jr. to the 2002 First Team All-American Little Scholars list for his accomplishment on the football field and his academic excellence.
Each year, Pop Warner football players and spirit leaders from around the country in grades 5-10 participate in the All-American Scholar program. Students must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 96-percent or better for the entire school year, and are also judged for their involvement in school-affiliated organizations, avademic and civic clubs.
Kaua’i is also proud to highlight the accomplishments of this year’s Second Team All Americans: Weslyn Masumura, Lihue Patriots; Akasaki, Lihue Patriots; Pohaku Kapua, Kapa’a Steelers; Derek Saiki, Kapa’a Vikings; Charity Arrisgado, Koloa Raiders; Taylor Morates, Koloa Raiders.
In the past year there were approximately 380,000 children nationwide who took part in this competition and of those, only 215 are awarded first team honors.
The Lihue Pop Warner Association congratulates Perez and the Second Team honorees for their excellence in life.
Perez will receive the award at the 42nd Annual National Awards Recognition Program being held this year at Disney’s Coronado Resort in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, May 25, 2002.
