A Waimea man was arrested Thursday morning, charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, according to police accounts and a county press release.
The police action stemmed from an incident in Wailua early yesterday morning. An 18-year-old woman reported being a victim of sexual assault at the hands of an acquaintance in the Wailua area, and police responded.
The victim suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Later yesterday morning, detectives arrested Victor Villanueva, Jr., 28, at his Waimea residence, on suspicion that he is the alleged perpetrator.
Villanueva is charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault, and three counts of third-degree sexual assault. He remains in police custody.
