Hawaii’s top professional surfer, world number four ranked Rochelle Ballard, will be hosting the second annual Rochelle Ballard Surf Camp, presented by O’Neill, Reef and Imagine Entertainment, this weekend, April 19-21 at Ha’ena, Kauai.
The program was established by Ballard to provide a development platform for young women surfers in Hawaii, encouraging the growth of athletic talent and promoting the sport of surfing for women.
“I love kids and I love to be helpful and see them progress,” says Ballard. “I’ve got this bug. I want to help provide an opportunity of growth that I didn’t have as a kid. I enjoy seeing the sport grow and to see lots of girls surfing together.
Along with plenty of surf time and camaraderie, participants in camp will also participate in yoga, training techniques, fun games and also hear from key speakers from the women’s surfing industry and pro surfing tour.
Approximately 50 young women have registered for the camp – 75 percent of them between the ages of 8 to 14 years.
