Two Radisson Kaua’i Beach Resort employees were treated for smoke inhalation after they put out a fire in the laundry room of the hotel at Nukolii last Saturday.
The workers, whose names weren’t released by officials, were treated at the emergency room at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, but their injuries weren’t serious, according to a Kauai County Fire Department spokesman.
The fire started before 3:30 p.m., when lint in air ducts was ignited by hot air from dryers, fire officials said. Apparently using water hoses, the employees put out the fire.
During mop-up operations, 10 firefighters from Lihu’e and Kapa’a sprayed water on the fire and ventilated the basement where the fire occurred.
The blaze reportedly caused minimal smoke and water damage.
