The Little League Baseball of America, an international organization bent on developing young baseball players all around the world, has given a golden thumbs up to the Kawaihau Community Little League in Kaua’i, which celebrates its 50-year-anniversary this year as a chartered Little League program.
In a letter to Jim Rosa, President of the Kawaihau Community Little League, the president and chief executive officer of Little League, Stephen Keener, wrote:
“Not only is this an opportunity to celebrate the youth in [Kaua’i’s] community, it is an honor for me to present the [Kawaihau Community Little League] with a 2002 Certificates of Charter and, in for the special anniversary year, a Gold’s Certificate recognizing 50 years of continuous affiliation with Little League Baseball.”
The letter continues…
“Through the principled concern of adults who provide wholesome, supervised activity and hold a genuine belief in the value of the Little League program, more than three million participants proudly wear the Little League emblem every summer. Your acceptance of this charter is a pledge of faith to perpetuate this tradition your league began 50 years.
It’s been 50 years.
That’s a long, long time.
Kaua’i atheletes and supporters are the kind of people who could make the spirit and tradition of sports last for one half of a century.
Give us 50 more, young sluggers.
Note: The Kawaihau Little League was also awarded the Certificate of Charter for Minors and Majors divisions, as well.
