Earl Pavao
Earl Pavao of Hanalei, Kaua’i, died at Queen’s Medical Center on Jan. 7, 2002, at the age of 42.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on Feb. 3, 1959, he was a farmer for the Taro Farm.
He is survived by his mother: Barbara Say of Hanalei, step-father: Sun (Pauly) Kwong Say of Hanalei; grandmother: Elizabeth Martin of Honolulu, four brothers: John (Diane) Pavao of Wailua; Pierre (Julie) Pavao of Kilauea; Paul Bun Ching Say of Hanalei; Byron Bun Ching Say of Hanalei; one sister: Keala (Dominic) Batalini of Wailua; his sweetheart: Jonquil Simons of Wailua; father: John Pavao, Sr., of Kalaheo; two step-brothers: David Pavao of Kalaheo, William Pavao of Kalaheo; one step-sister: Janell Pavao of Kalaheo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Hanalei Waioli Hui’ia Church from 9:30 a.m. Services to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hanalei Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Ana Pascua
Ana Apolinario Pascua of Lihu’e, Kauai, died at Queens Hospital on Jan. 7, 2002, at the age of 70.
Born in the Philippine Islands on Sept. 5, 1931, she retired from Wilcox Hospital as a nurses aide.
She is survived by sons: Bobbin Tabalno and Patrick Pascua; daughters: Vera (Gilbert) Tom and Regina (Frolando) Cabico; brothers: Vincente, Henry, Roman, Ismael Tabalno; Sisters: Maria Baltazar, Marcelina Bumacod, Dominga Arellano; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Jan. 14, at the Lihu’e United Church. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. and services will be at 3 p.m. Burial to follow at the Lihu’e Public Cemetery. Reception to follow burial service.
Wallace Matsuda
Wallace Shigeto Matsuda of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at home on Jan. 8, 2002, at the age of 90.
Born in Waimea, Kauai on July 5, 1911, he was a retired proprietor for Matsuda Jeweler.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Robert of Seattle, Wash., Hubert of Lihu’e Kaua’i, and Feodor “FeFe” of Lihue, Kauai; daughters, Colleen of Gardena, Calif. and Priscilla of California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service has been scheduled at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Casual attire is suggested.

Waichi Suzuki
Waichi Susuki of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at home on Jan. 10, 2002, at the age of 79.
Born in Waimea, Kauai on Apr. 12, 1922, he was a retired carpenter/building inspector with Kauai Builders and the County of Kauai.
He is survived by daughters, Aimee Suzuki-Yamamoto of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Sharon Suzuki of Hanapepe, Kaua’i and Adele (Glenn) Tone of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; seven grandchildren; brother, James (Gladys) Suzuki of Honolulu, O’ahu; sisters, Irene (Jack) Nada of Hanapepe, Kauai and Fusae Tanimoto of Hanapepe, Kauai.
Friends may visit with the family at 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Rev. Fujimori will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
