The Kapa’a Warriors stole one from Waimea in their last outing at Kapa’a Ball Park. Can they do it again on the same diamond?
The Warriors will host the Menehunes today at 5:30 p.m.
Each KIF team has a loss heading into mid-second round.
The Menehunes, who went undefeated in the first round, lost to Kapa’a in their second game of a double-header the week before last.
The Kaua’i Red Raiders, who hosted the Kapa’a Warriors in a double-header at Isenberg Park last Saturday, won one and lost one but also fell to Waimea last Wednesday 7-3 at Waimea Canyon.
Currently, Waimea leads the second round with two wins and one loss, Kapa’a is second with two wins and two losses, and Kaua’i is third in the standings with one win, two losses.
Kapa’a and Kaua’i need wins this week to truly force a playoff situation for Waimea.
Kapa’a has to win today to tie with Waimea, and Kaua’i has to win at least one this Saturday to give Kapa’a hope to remain in contention.
But if the Red Raiders win two, they will put themselves in contention for second round honors with a 3-2 record.
Basically, everyone needs to beat Waimea for this season to last longer.
