Police and corrections officials were searching Tuesday for a potentially dangerous prisoner who escaped from Kaua’i Community Correctional Center
Bradley David Pundyke, 41, was on livestock detail when he escaped Saturday at 2:42 p.m. Pundyke fled the facility on foot, authorities said.
Pundyke has “several previous felony convictions,” according to Kaua’i County chief deputy prosecutor Craig De Costa.
De Costa said Pundyke was awaiting sentencing for felon in possession of a firearm.
Pundyke was “recently sentenced on a misdemeanor abuse complaint” and was serving that time in the correctional center while awaiting his felony sentencing, De Costa said.
“People should take precautions when approaching him. He has previous felony convictions which include (offenses involving) weapons,” De Costa noted.
Pundyke, 41, is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds, with a slim to muscular build, brown eyes and brown hair.
He has six tattoos in various places on his anatomy.
Pundyke has relatives in Hanamaulu and Kapa’a, authorities said.
Officials asked anyone with information about Pundyke’s whereabouts to call Kaua’i County Police detective Marvin Rivera at 241-6745 or Crimestoppers, a police and Kaua’i Chamber of Commerce program, at 241-6787.
