Tatsuo Sakai of McBryde, Kauai, died at home on Sept. 7, 2001, at the age of 82.
Born in Wahiawa, Kauai on Aug. 16, 1919, he was a retired Warehouseman with McBryde Sugar.
He is survived by: his wife: Haruko Sakai of McBryde, Kauai; three sons: Sterling Sakai of San Francisco, Calif., Colin Sakai of Puhi, Kauai, Sydney (Edith) Sakai of Omao, Daughter: Penny Dusenberry of Puhi, Kauai; two sisters: Ayano (Nobuyoshi) Arakawa of Honolulu, Oahu and Shimeyo (Henry) Horita of Lawai, Kaua’i; seven grandchildren: Garrick Dusenberry, Carla Dusenberry, Sydette (Mark) Hamasaki, Sean (Pauline) Sakai, Liselle (Dynamite) Dusenberry-Lee, and Kelsi Sakai and 12 great grandchildren: Devin Dusenberry, Shana Oshima, Sharla Dela Cruz, Taylen Dusenberry, Daryl Dusenbery, Shantell Sakai, Travis Dusenberry, Hoku Dusenberry-Lee, Justin Hamasaki, Sheldon Sakai, Kaina Dusenberry, and Kala Lee; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Kauai Soto Zen Shuji Temple in Hanapepe; service officiate by Rev. Itagaki will begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
