Pete Gia died on Aug. 10, 2001, at this home in Torrance, CA., at the age of 81.
Born Nov. 8, 1919, in Redding, Calif., he served in the 801st Army division from 1944-1946 with an honorable discharge. He was employed many years with the Southern Pacific Railroad and The Chevron Corporation.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, children Gilbert, Debbie of Kaua’i, Lisa, Gregory and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services was held at St. James Church on Aug. 17. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Miami, Florida, 33136.
George E. Silva
George E. Silva, of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Aug. 15, 2001, at the age of 72.
Born in Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i on Nov. 21, 1928, he was a retired Heavy Utility Equipment Service man with Lihue Sugar.
He is survived by: his wife: Mabel M. Silva of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; two sons: Clayton G. (Alison) Silva of Kapa’a, Kaua’i and Brandon J. Silva of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; three daughters: Beverly J. (Wayne) Nakamoto of Waipahu, Kaua’i, Sharon C. Silva of Hanamaulu, Kaua’i, and Kathy M. Silva of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; 10 grandchildren; five sisters: Emily Furtado and Margaret Honor both of California, Violet Newcomb of O’ahu, Ida Vidinha of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, Shirley Goias of Hanamaulu, Kaua’i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass officiated by Father Bruce will begin at 3 p.m. followed by burial at the church cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
