The Fourth Annual Na Pali Challenge launched early last Sunday, Aug. 5, from Hanalei Bay. The race ended 35 miles later in Kekaha.
Thirty-three teams competed in the event, which this year was held to benefit the construction of Kaua’i’s own voyaging canoe, Namahoe. It was the largest turnout ever for the Na Pali Challenge, due in part to Hanalei’s staging of the State Canoe Championships on August 4.
Hanalei fared the best of the clubs representing the Garden Island.
