Rosalie “Rusty” Akuna Peters of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died July 3, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
Born July 27, 1918, she had worked for Watase U-Drive and Lihu’e McDonald’s.
She is survived by two sons: Hollis (Isabelle “Cookie”) Peters of Lihu’e and Dennis Gene Peters of Honolulu; four sisters: Puanani Char, Lillian Park, Elsie Kali, and Beverly Kahaleuumi; six brothers: Daniel Akuna, Abraham Akuna, Bernard Malaia, George Malaia, Kenneth Malaia, Gordon Akuna; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, at Lihu’e First church from 9:30 a.m. with services to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.

Saturnino Castro Racelo of Koloa, Kaua’i, died July 2, 2001, at Mahelona Hospital at the age of 86.
A tool supply clerk with the sugar industry for Grove Farm, he was born Oct. 27, 2001, in Koloa, Kaua’i.
He is survived by one son: Allan (Teresa) Racelo of Kapa’a; three grandchildren; one brother: Mauro (Libbie) Racelo of California and one sister: Victoria (Phil) Hilacion of Lihu’e; two sisters-in-law; Irene (Jose) Racelo and Brigida (Conrado) Racelo, both of Koloa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 1 p.m. with services to be celebrated at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery.

Dean Carver, Jr.
Dean Jack Carver, Jr. of Waimea, Kaua’i, died June 29, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 56.
A carpenter, he was born Jan. 21, 1945, in Oregon.
He is survived by two daughters: Michelle Baines of New Jersey, and Gina Baines and his mother: Marjorie (Doyle) Bryant of California.
