Weedbusters head for Halemanu Trail
The next project for Koke’e Resource Conservation Program’s Weedbusters is the Halemanu Trail this Saturday.
Volunteers will help clear weeds from the Koa-forested ridges of the trail. Workers should meet at the Koke’e CCC Camp at 8:30 a.m., bring their own drinking water and lunch and wear long pants and covered shoes.
Weedbusters volunteers help rid forest areas of non-native vegetation. The program is sponsored by Hui o Laka/Koke’e Natural History Museum, with funding by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Hawaiian Community Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service.

New judge takes the oath Friday
Trudy Senda will be sworn in Friday as Kauai’s newest – and first woman – District Court judge.
A ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Kaua’i County Courthouse in Lihu’e.
Senda, previously a private attorney, was appointed over other candidates by the state Judiciary.
Real Estate Commission meets in Lihu’e
The state Real Estate Commission will conduct its monthly committee meetings May 11 in Lihu’e.
Meetings in the State Office Building are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. for the Laws and Rules Review Committee, 10 a.m. for the Education Review Committee and 11 a.m. for the Condominium Review Committee.
The meetings are open to real estate licensees, government officials, members of the condominium community, educators and the general public. An open forum will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Issues can be discussed in advance with the commission by calling 274-3134 (ext. 62643) or (808) 586-2643.
