Florentina “Loring” Alvarado, of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Mar. 8, 2001, at the age of 65.
Born in Pangasinan, Philippines on June 19, 1935, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by: her husband: Alipio Alvarado, Sr. of Kaumakani, Kaua’i; six sons: Rodrigo (Virginia) Alvarado of the Philippines, Romeo (Benita) Alvarado of Liliha, O’ahu, Honorato (Jocelyn) Alvarado of Ewa, O’ahu, Alipio (Nadine) Alvarado Jr. of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, Norvin Alvarado of Wailua, Kaua’i, and Nolan (Zelda) Alvarado of Honolulu, O’ahu; two daughters: Feme Alvarado of Makakilo, O’ahu and Donna Jean Alvarado-Fernandez of Kaumakani, Kaua’i; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers: Mariano Alvarado, Felipe Alvarado, Severo Alvarado, all of the Philippines; and Sofronio Alvarado, Jr. of Kaumakani, Kaua’i; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 17, at the St. John’s Church in ‘Ele’ele; service officiated by Father Quintaro will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Matsuko Ijima
Matsuko “Ma” Ijima of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, died at home at the age of 79. A retired baker with Tip Top Restaurant, she was born May 16, 1921.
She is survived by her husband: Kenji Ijima of Kaumakani, Kaua’i; son: Lance (Conchetta) Ijima of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; daughter: Kathleen (Dennis) Furushima of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; four grandchildren; four brothers: Tamotsu (Jan) Takamura of Lawai, Kaua’i, Mitsuo (Jane) Takamura of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; Glen (Debbie) Takamura of California, and Yuki (Jean) Takamura of Honolulu, O’ahu; two sisters: Sally Okada of Kekaha, Kaua’i and Midori Komori of Honolulu, O’ahu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service has been scheduled at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 16, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.

Miriam Yamamoto
Miriam Akie Yamamoto, of ‘Ele’ele Nani, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 11, 2001, at the age of 60.
A cashier with Hanapepe Liquor Store, she was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Makaweli, Kaua’i.
She is survived by her husband: Mitsugi Yamamoto of ‘Ele’ele Nani, Kaua’i; brother: Darryl (Velma Usui) Noda of Kona, Big Island; sister: June Noda of Waimea, Kaua’i; brother-in-law: Katsumi Yamamoto of California, sister-in-law: Tomie Takahashi of Lawai, Kaua’i; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Rev. Terui will begin at 4 p.m.
