A canoeing coop: In an effort that left many onlookers at Keehi Lagoons on Oahu wondering who it was, Na Koa Waa of Na Opio O Kaua’i earned respect from fans, competitors and coaches last weekend, March 3-4, when it competed in the state-wide outrigger canoe event for eight-to-18 year olds. The youth of Kaua’i competed in eight divisions, from novice B to varsity, and finished in the top five out of 26 clubs in every race entered. It was a marked improvement from previous years’ performances. The junior varsity boys crew took first in their division.
