VISUAL FEASTS for the eye, culture for the soul and treats for the kids were part of the Shinnen Enkai (New Year’s party) hosted Sunday by Hui Alu Inc. at the Radisson Kaua’i Beach Hotel. At one point during the festivities, paranku dancer Lyle Ueunten (left) got ready to do a drum roll on the commemorative, centennial taiko during a lucky-number drawing. Other young participants (above) seated at a table didn’t quite know what to make of a masked paranku dancer. The dancer, escorted by Judy Segawa of Lihu’e, was handing out candy.
