Lots of companies and business organizations talk about supporting their communities, and some actually mean it. Alexander & Baldwin Inc. is among the latter.
In the past year, more than $100,000 in proceeds from A&B’s five Kaua’i-based businesses were donated through its charitable foundation to non-profit organizations serving the island. Healthcare, schools, human service agencies the likes of American Cancer Society and American Lung Association, community festivals such as Koloa Plantation Days, and even tourist services (via Visitor Aloha Society, which assists visitors facing unexpected crises) are among A&B’s beneficiaries.
“The goal of our foundation is to improve the quality of life in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Merdith Ching, an A&B vice president. For that, Kaua’i can be grateful.
