Oops. How about at least three more days of closure for the Kapa’a bypass
road?
The state Department of Transportation announced earlier this week
that the temporary bypass, closed since Oct. 14 to allow cane harvesting at
Lihu’e Plantation, would reopen yesterday. The closure was extended to then to
allow more time for harvesting.
Now the closure has been extended again.
DOE officials said the road will be closed to public traffic until at least
Wednesday, Nov. 8. Equipment failure during harvesting is the reason, they
said.
The road did, however, reopen yesterday to handle traffic during the
Veterans Day Parade in Kapa’a.
