In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kaua’i County Mayor Maryanne
Kusaka has done something that all bosses should do if they can: Make it easier
for employees to get a potentially life-saving breast examination.
Kusaka
issued a directive giving county workers two hours of paid leave or the actual
amount of time off from work in order to undergo mammograms during
October.
As Kusaka noted, “Just a few minutes in the doctor’s office can
save a life. If we can encourage women to have this simple annual test, we will
have made tremendous strides in the fight against breast cancer.”
