Well, thank goodness $52 million of the American public’s money was spent
finding out that President Clinton and the First Lady did nothing wrong in
connection with Whitewater.
Remember Whitewater? That’s the title given to
purported wrongdoing involving the Clintons’ business dealings in Arkansas,
including a failed real estate venture by that name.
While it’s true that
14 convictions of other individiuals – including some Clinton associates – came
out of the independent prosecutors’ six-year investigation, the president and
Hillary Clinton were exonerated. Of course, the latest prosecutor, Robert Ray,
would only say there was “insufficient” or “inconclusive” evidence against the
Clintons. Apparent political bullheadedness aside, it’s time to admit once and
for all that the long and incredibly expensive pursuit of the president on
Whitewater was money down the drain.
