Raymond Gandeza of Eleele recently completed two official santioned
Powerlifting meets in July as well as an unofficial bench press meet, winning
first in each lift in his class as well as best lifter for his division in an
APA meet in Hilo where Gandeza competed in the Submaster division with presses
of 402 pounds, squat of 650 pounds, and a deadlife of 600 pounds. Gandeza also
competed in the Kaua`i Gym meet with a first place finish, pressing for an
unofficial 400 pounds. On O`ahu, Gandeza scratched in the bench press, but
recovered to deadlift 611 pounds (shown in photo) to earn first place in his
division, and earning him an invitation to compete in the Nationals AAU meet in
Las Vegas scheduled for November. Gandeza also has several meets for August
and September on O`ahu.
