at the Kapa`a Beach Park on Saturday, July 22, and Sunday, July 23.
Futsal
is a 5-a-side outdoor competition that emphasizes ball and skills control and
is popular in Brazil where soccer legends like Pele, Ronaldo, Zico, Juninhno,
and Denilson grew up playing the game.
The Cup will feature teams made up
of Boys and Girls Under 12 and Boys and Girls Under 14 with a maximum team
roster of 8 players where substitutions are necessary.
Some of the soccer
skills that futsal develop include dribbling, passing, shooting, and visual
skills.
Game format will have the girls’ teams playing two 15-minute halves
with one 60-second time out per team per half.
Boys will be playing two
17-minute halves with one 60-second time out allowed per team per
half.
Scoring system will have the winning team earning 3 points, and a tie
counting as 1 point. A loss earns no points.
Finals for the girls
competition will start at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday with the boys’ finals starting at
10:15 on Sunday.
