To the Forum: “Accountability, not retribution”. It will be
very interesting when the Bishop Estate issue goes to court in September. There
are so many issues and personalities involved, it will be a difficult task
because of our court system today. Political strings have a way of protecting
the guilty. It is gratifying to see ex-Governor Waihee on the list in question
along with the other attorneys. However, ex-Chief Justice, ex-trustee
Richardson should be close to the top of the list. If anyone, he should have no
excuses to being aware of what was going on.
As for retribution
(removal), positions that were created and filled by the ex-trustees should be
addressed immediately. Mr. Takemoto, who was with Waihee’s cabinet, handing out
no-bid contracts for the state, should be removed. Mr. Rocky Freitas’ position
as V.P. of K.S. was created and filled by former trustee Lindsay for more
personal and political reasons than can be mentioned. There was no announcement
of these positions ever being available and I’m sure no other candidates were
interviewed.
My hope is that ex-trustee Stender be excused from any of
this. My hat is off to him and the many who helped to make positive changes for
the future of the Hawaiian youth.
