LIHU’E – A 53-year-old Kekaka man was transported to Queens Memorial Hospital

in critical condition after he got in trouble Saturday afternoon while swimming

off Kekaha Beach and lost consciousness.

Kaua’i police said Stanley

Bucasas struck his head on the sandy bottom off a beach area known as

“Intersections” at 3 p.m.

Beachgoers saw the man in trouble and brought him

back to shore. Bucasas was subsequently transported by ambulance to Kauai

Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea was medivaced to the O’ahu hospital for

more extensive treatment.
