Kapa’a Warriors a 2-1 loss in a state tournament consolation game Friday at
Aloha Stadium.
The game was decided in a shootout.
Kapa’a took a 1-0
lead 20 minutes into the game when Mytra DiLeonardo converted on a penalty
kick.
Tiana Maple tied the game 1-1 six minutes later.
There were no
goals in the second half, leading to a shootout in which Hawai’i Prep’s Ka
Makani edged the Warriors 5-4 in penalty kicks.
The Kaua’i Interscholastic
Federation champion Warriors entered the tourney undefeated at 9-0 and are
headed home with a 1-2 tourney record for a final overall season mark of
10-2.
Tania Tasic made 10 saves in the Kapa’a net.
The Ka Makani (13-1)
were scheduled to play Mililani (13-2-1) for fifth place yesterday.
Baldwin
and Aiea were set to play in yesterday’s championship game.
