‘ELE’ELE – “Women are very concerned about having healthy babies,”
says Dr. Teresa Birchard, Ob-Gyn. “They want to know what they can do to
keep themselves in good health in order to have a healthy baby.”
Dr.
Birchard and Lisa Mecca, RNC, IBCLC, will be speaking on “Having a Healthy
Pregnancy” at the KMC ‘Ele’ele Clinic on 4398 Waialo Road on Thursday,
Jan. 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This is a free community education seminar
sponsored by Wilcox Health System.
Topics covered will be nutritional
concerns and weight gain during pregnancy, exercise and keeping fit,
medications and communicating with the physician or medical practitioner about
medical concerns, and how fetal development is affected by smoking and
drinking.
Mecca, Lactation Consultant and Childbirth Educator, will talk
about preparing for breastfeeding and getting needed support. She will also
give an overview of her Childbirth Education class, which is a 6-week series,
held at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
