The South Shore’s
hotel occupancy rate in November of 1998 was 72.5, according to PKF-Hawai’i, a
management and accounting firm based in Honolulu.
South Shore hotels had an
average daily rental fee of $195.87 in November of 1999, up from $181.84 for
the same month in 1998.
East Kaua’i hotels recorded an occupancy rate of
67.8 percent in November of 1999, up from 58.3 percent the same month in
1998.
For the first 11 months of 1999, only Ka’anapali on Maui (83.7) had a
higher occupancy rate than Po’ipu hotels, which recorded an occupancy figure of
82.2 percent.
That compared to a rate of 76.2 percent for the first 11
months of 1998. The island’s hotel occupancy rate for the first 11 months of
1999 was 76.9 percent, up from 69.5 percent for the first 11 months of
1998.
Central Kaua’i hotels registered an occupancy rate of 68.9 percent
for the first 11 months of 1999, compared to a figure of 60.4 percent for the
same period in 1998.
For hotels and condominiums on the island, the South
Shore was again tops, at 73.5 percent for November of 1999, up from 73 percent
the same month in 1998. North and central Kaua’i were essentially the same at
66.8 percent, with the north Kaua’i figure up from 61.4 percent for November of
1998, and east Kaua’i up from 57.8 percent in November of 1998.
For all
visitor accommodations (hotel rooms and resort condominiums) for the first 11
months of 1999, the South Shore led the island, with an occupancy rate of 77.3
percent, compared to 73.8 percent for the same period in 1998.
North Kaua’i
was next at 75.2 percent, up from 71.6 percent in the same period in 1998, and
east Kaua’i was at 69.2 percent for the first 11 months of 1999, up from 60.7
for the same period in 1998.
The island’s total occupancy rate was 74
percent for the first 11 months of 1999, up from 68.3 percent over the same
period in 1998.
Occupancy rates for resort condominiums remained soft, on
this island with only east Kaua’i showing an occupancy increase, from 55.9
percent in November of 1998 to 63.7 percent in November of 1999.
South
Kaua’i was down to 63.5 percent in November of 1999, compared to 74.9 in
November of 1998, and the North Shore dipped to 53.1 percent in November of
last year, compared to 62.3 percent in November of 1998.
The island’s
resort condominium occupancy rate dipped to 61.1 percent in November of 1999,
compared to 64.4 in November of 1998.
For the first 11 months of 1999,
though, Kaua’i’s resort condominium occupancy rate was up (68.1 percent)
compared to the same period in 1998 (65.4), with the Eastside leading the way
with an occupancy rate of 70.1 percent, up from 61.6 percent for the same
period in 1998.
South Kaua’i came in at 67.5 percent, up from 65.4 percent
for the same period in 1998, and the North Shore’s resort condominiums
registered an occupancy rate of 67.1 percent, down from 69.8 percent for the
same period in 1998.
