LIHUE — Kauai Police Department is asking the public to help find a missing person.
Richard Paul Agor, 33, was last seen on June 13. He hasn’t made contact with his family since then, and they are concerned for his welfare.
Agor is 5 feet, 2 inches tall, and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He is of Filipino descent with brown eyes, black hair, a tan complexion and a medium build.
“I think he got fed up with everything,” said Matilda Inouye, who is Agor’s mother.
She said Agor is a mentally disabled adult who broke contact with the family after meeting with his estranged wife at the Eleele Shopping Center on June 8. He reportedly left a backpack in his wife’s car and left a brand new cell phone in the shopping center.
“His wife said he was talking funny and left him there,” Inouye said.
This behavior is out of character and Inouye said she fears that her son went “over the edge” but is hopeful that he is okay based on two recent sightings. Signs of concern are that he has not gone to his bank for money and is not taking his medication, she said.
“This has not happened before, but he hasn’t taken his medication for several days,” Inouye said.
Agor has four children, ages 8, 5, and 4-year-old twins. He and his wife separated a year ago and Agor was arrested for restraining order violations.
He was diagnosed mentally ill and had to stop working about two years ago. He was homeless until Inouye arranged for him to stay at a grandmother’s home in Kekaha.
Most of Agor’s friends are homeless but Inouye said that if he chose to become homeless again, he would have contacted her so as not to cause worry. He loves his girls, she said, and would not have broken contact with them unless something was wrong.
Agor also missed the funeral of his grandfather in June, she said. The family contacted the police after two weeks and said he is not a violent person but that he may be avoiding police after missing a court appearance.
“I talked to a couple of people who said they saw him in Lihue about a week after he was missing by Isenberg Ball Park, and again a week and a half ago by Kalapaki Beach,” Inouye said. “They said he appeared to be out of it.”
