Swim Kauai Aquatics was the highest-scoring neighbor island team for the second consecutive year at the Bill Smith Invitational on Oahu last weekend.
Twenty-one athletes represented their team and placed fourth, collecting the highest points in the team’s history
“Swim for swim, we held our own, and kept raising the bar each and every swim,” said coach Billy Brown.
“Every single athlete contributed to the team. It was an incredible showing of what our team is all about,” he said.
The invitational meet, hosted in honor of Hawaii gold medalist Olympian Bill Smith, who recently passed away, is one of the biggest meets in Hawaiian age group swimming outside of the state championships.
Hundreds of young swimmers from throughout the state gather to race at the Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Complex in Waipahu.
