The Department of Water will release its 2014 water quality reports online starting July 1. A report for each of the nine water systems, covering from Jan. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013, will be accessible on DOW’s website at www.kauaiwater.org.
The DOW water quality reports describe the quality of Kaua‘i’s drinking water and where it comes from. It contains basic information on Kaua‘i’s water sources, the levels of contaminants in the water, compliance with other drinking water rules, and other brief educational materials. DOW’s annual water quality reports are in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, a federal law, which requires water utilities to provide water quality information to its customers every year.
Kauai’s drinking water is tested regularly through DOW’s certified laboratories and the state Department of Health. Kauai’s drinking water meets all of the Environmental Protection Agency’s guidelines for safe drinking water, and any contaminants found were well below the levels allowed by the EPA.
