Halloween is the time of year for spooks, specters and bags of candy, but for Lambda Aloha member Ross Martineau, Oct. 31 also marks his organization’s spookiest annual event, The Lambda Aloha Halloween Party.
On All Hallows Eve, guests 21 and older are invited to enjoy an event that Martineau promises will be a lot of fun, featuring five projectors that will fill the walls and ceilings of the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel ballroom.
Partygoers can meet and greet one another at 7 p.m., then dance the night away until 1 a.m.
“It’s an opportunity to get out of the house and shake your shoes,” Martineau said. “Anyone who comes to our parties knows how much fun they are … everyone is invited.”
Inspired by the popular book series “Game of Thrones,” by George R. R. Martin, the party theme “Flame of Thrones” was the brain child of Lambda Vice President Byron Barth. Although guests may wear any costume of their choice, donning medieval garb would match the theme. A costume contest will award a prize for the best medieval/fantasy costume, Martineau said.
Disk jockey Mike Dandurand will provide sound for the festivities.
“Our parties allow people to forget about their worries of the day, and the costumes add a level of excitement,” said Martineau.
Established more than 10 years ago, Lambda Aloha benefits the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community on the island.
“We started as a modest beach party and here we are at Aloha Beach with 150-200 attendees,” Martineau said.
This will be the nonprofit organization’s third annual Halloween party under Haunted Hale.
Tickets are $20 per person. Proceeds from the party will benefit the local organization.
