KALAHEO — Dina Hayes of the Kauai Ballers dropped a bucket in the opening period to take a 2-0 lead over Kaulupono Tuesday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Kaulupono did not answer the deficit until the waning minutes of the second frame when Alysha Palacio connected with a bomb from outside the three-point arc for a 3-2 go-ahead.
That was the catalyst for Kaulupono, coached by Pedro Saligumba, to continue its run to a 22-6 showing over the Kauai Ballers, who got all of its scoring from Hayes.
Braelyn Cayaban topped the Kaulupono scoring with six points followed by Kaye Serapio and Palacio, who added five points apiece.
w Keidan Boro of Hanakila A finished with 18 points as Hanakila A’s beat Team Lihue B 56-17.
Chanson Hawelu, normally a top producer for Hanakila A, added 14 points in the victory.
Syrus Delos Reyes and Raysen Jarquio led the Team Lihue B effort. Delos Reyes connected with a trio of treys, and Jarquio adding one in the sixth period following a steal.
w The final matchup saw coach Clarence Sales coach the Team Central girls to a 23-12 win over Westside, coached by Josh Burton.
Amalys Sales topped the Team Central scoring with 10 points with Bailey Perreira adding seven marks.
Momi Martins, Braeanna Moises and Ashlyn Agena led the Westside effort with three points apiece.
