PAC offers hearing-assistance devices
Thank you to Alice Parker for her thoughtful letter and to all who attended KCA’s “A Night of Piano.”
The event was a success and it was an honor for KCA to present some of our island’s finest local talent.
Regarding the sound, the KCC PAC is considered by many to be the finest stage on Kauai and it is noted for its acoustics. When microphones are not used, sound checks are made prior to shows to make sure that an artist speaking in normal voice can be heard at the back of the auditorium.
With that said, hearing challenges can make that frustrating. What many in our community don’t but should know is that the PAC has hearing-assistance devices available on request at the box office, which are supported by a barely-visible mic stage. At any point in a show, one can easily request those from the box office attendants. I hope this helps in future enjoyment of shows.
Again, thanks to all who attended and supported the event. It’s an honor to serve such a great community with such great performers in such a great theater.

Company closing site is good thing
Aloha. Just returned from the Mainland to hear Pioneer is leaving. Glory Hallelujah! Finally we are seeing the pendulum swing the other way, for the health of our land, ocean and residents. After 47 years of dumping hundreds of thousands of gallons of toxic experimental chemicals on our precious land they are leaving! Yeah! This is a huge step in the right direction. We can only hope our diminished reefs and sick sea creatures as well as our land can start to begin to heal. I realize this is just one of the (five) chemical companies on our island, so we need to keep the momentum going.
In response to the letter stating “the seed companies are important to Kauai for keeping our agricultural lands in production,” experimenting with dumping thousands of gallons of toxic chemicals daily is not helping our island produce agriculture. Good neighbors do not fight for the right to spray poisons near our schools, hospitals and residences. Good neighbors do not feed family and friends with experimental, genetically modified foods that may or may not be safe for consumption.
As far as Syngenta making monetary donations and free lighting, is that worth the health of our people, land and sea? There is no amount of money or any other donation that will make up for the destruction they have caused and are causing our island. It will take years for the land to completely recover, if ever. I realize job loss is a concern, but as the saying goes “when one door closes another door opens.”

Faith is something to share
‘Easter Super Bowl for Christians’ — Oh, did my heart rejoice when I read this headline. I have since then been reading with great interest the letters to the editor with pros and cons regarding the prayer gathering at which were many different denominations. There are no fences in Heaven — praise God we are worshipping together.
Since childhood I have had a deep and personal relationship with the Lord as my Heavenly Father and He has been present in my life ever since. It was and is a living experience and He has not made a mistake with my life. When the answer was no, it turned out to be correct. As a result I would also like to express my thoughts.
Our God is a God who loves us more than we can ever imagine and gave His life so that we could have life eternal. This life on earth is fleeting and Psalms tells us “Make us know the shortness of our life that we may gain wisdom of heart” (Ps 90). “If you are young look forward to God’s fidelity to you throughout your life, if you are older, look back on God’s fidelity to you through what is past. Whatever your age, know that God’s love is the foundation upon which all our hope stands firm. His guarantee is the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, a deed deep, high and unsearchable that exceeds all our praises.” (Ps 71)
I rejoice that the people of Kauai are expressing and sharing their faith — I encourage you to earnestly continue. It is the Lord’s desire that all come to Him and I pray daily that all will come to know Him and spend eternity with Him — the other option is not an option.
Keep on being faithful to the One Who is faithful.
