POIPU — Cora Murayama walked off with All Around Cowgirl honors following the final Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association event, Sunday at the CJM Country Stables.
The event was plagued by mechanical problems, but eventually got off the ground to wrap up the KAGRA calendar for the year. Results of the year-round standings will be announced at a later date.
Following Murayama, Kim Medeiros was awarded the Reserve All Around Cowgirl honor despite logging Fast Time honors in the Dally Team Roping event where she partnered with Alexis Vasconcelles as the header and Kim doing the heeling. The pair finished first in the event on a 7.79 seconds on a single go.
Individual events saw Kim Medeiros capture fifth place in the 1st D of Barrel Racing on an 18.381 go, topping the Goat Tying event on a 22.465 average, and third place in the Steer Undecorating with a 7.26 go.
Kim Medeiros also teamed with All Around Cowgirl winner Murayama to finish fifth in the Dally Team event on a 16.67 go.
Murayama edged out Kim in the Barrel Racing, finishing fourth in the 1st D on an 18.304 go, a mere .077 second faster than Kim. She also finished third in Goat Tying at a 29.810 average, and rounded out her individual events with a second place in Breakaway Roping at 10.18 average.
