LIHUE — Kaiden Lee, 2, loves noodles. So does Yanny Jiang.
Kaiden was one of the first customers when doors to Aloha Ramen opened last week at Kukui Grove Center between Ho’s Chinese Kitchen and L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.
“The Aloha Ramen has so much variety we can come here every day and try something different,” said his father, Seungjoon Lee. “Kaiden has been waiting for this place to open.”
Aloha Ramen specializes in sapporo ramen and udon, both Japanese-style noodles.
“I love noodles,” said Yanny Jiang, the Aloha Ramen owner. “Unfortunately, there are not too many places on the island where you can get variety. I decided there were other people like me who enjoy noodles so I opened my own place.”
Adding to the primary offering, Aloha Ramen also offers curry dishes including fish katsu, chicken katsu and beef.
Fried rice and noodle choices include shrimp, chicken, and kimchi fried noodles.
Local-style side orders enhance the noodle experience, including heapings of fried and white rice.
“I’ve been waiting for this place to open,” said Ashley Galiza. “This morning, I ordered chicken katsu because it’s too hot for noodles. Maybe tonight, we’ll come back for noodles.”
Aloha Ramen is open from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. seven days a week.
