HANAPEPE — Julia Mariko Hirano, a cross country runner and soccer player, reigned as the Waimea High School homecoming queen Saturday afternoon during the KIF football game at Hanapepe Stadium.
The current student body president, who plans to pursue a career in the medical field, entered the arena set up by a 10-2 halftime lead by the Menehune football team. Escorted by her father, Dr. Timmy Hirano, she reigned over the 2015 Fantasy Land, Create the World of Your Dreams.
Genessa Jardin, escorted by her father Greg Jardin, joined the Menehune homecoming court as Miss Football. Tiffany Piilani Ishibashi, escorted by her brother Brandon Ishibashi, donned the sash of Miss Menehune. Shyla Alanah Taniguchi-Simbre, escorted by her father JJ Simbre, was crowned Miss School Spirit, and Hope Coyaso, escorted by her father Russell Coyaso, rounded out the homecoming honor court as Miss Victory.
Alyssa Pigao, the daughter of Neil and Consa Pigao, represented the Class of 2016. Bailee Taeza, the daughter of Matthew and Lani Taeza, came forward as the representative of the Class of 2017. Jayda Oyamoto-Campos, the daughter of Bradyn and Theresa Campos and stepmother Jonay Campos, represented the Class of 2018. Kaira Hinano, the daughter of Daniel and Momi Kelekoma, represented the Class of 2019.
