Happy birthday to Rea Facer of Seattle who celebrated her special day Thursday on Kauai. Rea and her husband Damon were cruising Koloa town seeking out “adult drinks” when they settled into the Garden Island Grille (congratulations to Sheri Trentlage on the opening!).
Chef Robert Kanahele was doing a great job with filling the orders coming in, and even Louis Abrams (he’s got plans for the Papaau crew for the NYC Halloween boat race) stopped by on the way to his office.
Christian Riso (he said he got his start as a chef at Cafe Portefino) was proud to say he painted the door which graces the window into Chef Robert’s world, and supports the grille with an alcove of fine art food.
Are you ready for Halloween? Chantal Zarbaugh was going crazy creating all the goodie bags for the Kukui Grove Center event (where are the interns when you need them?), and Ron Wiley (is anyone going to dress like him?) will be doing the microphone duties following the Kauai United Way walk (yes, it starts Saturday morning, too). Is Nellie Okamoto (it’s her birthday somewhere around the walkathon) going to be there?
