Nominations and elections for seats on the Aha Moku Advisory Committee will take place from 6 to 8 tonight at the Kapaa library. Department of Land and Natural Resources Executive Director Leimana DaMate will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions.
The purpose of Aha Moku is to engage stakeholders to integrate the Native Hawaiian cultural and traditional values into the fabric of state policy. It provides citizenry involvement to effectively support the mission of DLNR on site-specific issues to sustain marine, land, cultural, agricultural and natural resources.
Communities of an Ahupuaa select their representatives, who act as liaisons between the community, Moku and DLNR.
