LIHUE — The public is invited to attend a Women’s History Month celebration this week hosted by the Kauai Committee on the Status of Women. The event will be at the Kauai Museum Courtyard from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
LIHUE — The public is invited to attend a Women’s History Month celebration this week hosted by the Kauai Committee on the Status of Women.
The event will be at the Kauai Museum Courtyard from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Light refreshments will be served.
The program will feature community leaders including: Aletha Kaohi Goodwin, representing the Hawaiian community; Dimples Kano, from the Japanese community; Dr. Geri Young, representing the Chinese community; Linda Pieratt, from the Portuguese community; and Norma Doctor Sparks, representing the Filipino community.
Also featured will be Cindy Combs, an award-winning slack key guitarist and songwriter who will perform Hawaiian music.
All of the women are descendants of diverse ethnic heritages that have created the unique blend of cultures on Kauai.
“They have endured and transcended the limitations imposed on women, carved out new futures for themselves and their children, and enriched the community,” according to a press release.
The KCSW meets on the third Wednesday of the month. The next scheduled meeting is March 16.
