The fourth annual Kapa Moke Jr. Hare & Hound and Poker Run races were held Sunday in Omao. About 200 riders, about half of which were keiki, took part in Sunday’s races. The event was hosted by the Garden IslandMotorcycle
The fourth annual Kapa Moke Jr. Hare & Hound and Poker Run races were held Sunday in Omao.
About 200 riders, about half of which were keiki, took part in Sunday’s races. The event was hosted by the Garden IslandMotorcycle Club.
The hare and hound races were for experienced riders, in which racers collected checks along the path and whoeverfinished the fastest with all the checks won. The poker run races were for beginners, in which riders collect cards andwhomever had the best five-card poker hand won.
The races are held in memory of Kapa Moke Jr., who died in a swimming accident in 2012.
50 bicycles were donated to child racers who took part — 20 of which were donated to local elementary schools Kekaha,Koloa, Eleele and King Kaumualii. The 20 bikes donated to the schools were donated by Kapa Moke Jr.’s uncle, Daniel Furtado.
