Two of Kauai’s golf courses will be hosts in a nationwide golf fundraiser.
Princeville Makai and Puakea Golf Courses will participate in the World’s Largest Golf Outing (WLGO), in which thousands will play on numerous golf courses across the United States to benefit veterans.
This year’s charity recipient is Fisher House Foundation, a nonprofit primarily known for its network of comfort homes where military members and their families can stay at no cost while the veterans receive treatment.
“To be part of the World’s Largest Golf Outing is just an amazing opportunity,” said Princeville Makai general manager Doug Sutter. “Especially knowing the magnitude and the importance of this event, for it to be going to a wonderful recipient this year … we relish the opportunity. This will be our fourth year in a row hosting.”
The WLGO is an 18-hole or 9-hole scramble depending on the course. Each team will compete for highest fundraising total and the lowest team score of the day.
Those who wish to register to play or donate can do so at the event website at www.worldslargestgolfouting.com.
Princeville Makai will host its event Sunday, July 31. Registration time is 7:45 a.m. and shotgun start is 9 a.m.
Fees are $280 for a team of four, $190 for a team of two and $95 for an individual.
Puakea will play on Monday, Aug. 1. Registration time is 6:45 a.m. and play start time is 8 a.m.
