LIHUE — The Kauai Committee on the Status of Women invites the public to help them “Paint the Town Pink” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The annual walk will start at the Lihue Civic Center Moikeha Building on Oct. 26 at 11:15 a.m.
Bev Brody with Get Fit Kauai will start the group off with an energetic warm-up. Following the warm-up, walkers will head down Kuhio Highway to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and back to the Moikeha Building.
Participants are encouraged to wear anything pink to show their support of breast cancer awareness and to remind the public of the importance of early detection.
The American Cancer Society’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program will provide brochures and other educational materials about cancer awareness.
The KCSW is hosting the walk in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign promoted by major cancer organizations.
The KCSW is part of the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women, which strives to advance the status of women and girls by acting as a catalyst for positive chance through advocacy, education, collaboration and program development.
The KCSW meets on the third Wednesday of the month. All KCSW meetings are open to the public.
