Why I changed my dog’s names from Obama to Ivanka
The decision was an easy one.
Unlike most Trump supporters, I like President Obama. I just thought Donald Trump was a better candidate than Hillary Clinton for many reasons. This is not about policy but rather why I changed my dog’s name from “Obama” to “Ivanka.”
(Note: Ivanka is three syllables ending with an “a” just like Obama; therefore, it’s very easy for the dog to comprehend the name change.)
First to answer the question. I originally named my dog Obama because I am a political junkie and was awe struck by President Obama. I had tears of joy during President Obama’s inauguration.
I named my dog Obama despite the fact she is a female dog as a way to honor the 44th president of the United States. It was always awkward because people thought Obama was a male dog. It was awkward introducing Obama to my Republican friends. Therefore, she took on the moniker of Boms. Short for Oboma (sic).
Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, is one of his confidants and is also drop dead beautiful. I am an independent and this election changed my allegiance to the Republican candidate, Trump. I made a pledge and commitment to myself and the few friends I have left should “The Donald” win the election, I would changed my dog’s name to Ivanka.
I must confess — I like to kiss my dog goodnight and as a heterosexual male I was getting tired and feeling a little uneasy asking Obama for kisses. (Not there anything wrong with that).
Kissing Ivanka goodnight is a no brainer. “Now you know the rest of the story.”

Trump supporters will be sorry
Jason Blake’s letter in the Dec. 11 TGI was right on. This is a little late, but I suggest that anyone supporting Trump read David Cay Johnston’s book, “The Making of Donald Trump.”
Johnston has followed Trump for nearly 30 years and is a Pulitzer-winning reporter. He worked for the “New York Times” and other organizations.
This book is very revealing and details many of the relationships Trump had with the mafia and other questionable organizations and activities. Frankly, this book makes “Crooked Hillary” (his term) look like a saint.
Looking at his cabinet makeup, a Trump presidency will be a major test of the foresight of our forefathers and founders when they crafted the constitution and other governing documents.
I also anticipate a large amount of “buyer’s remorse” when a Trump government inevitably cuts or eliminates Social Security and Medicare while cutting taxes for the wealthiest among us.
I know during the campaign he said he would not do this. But thus far, he has changed or reneged on most of what he said during the campaign.
Good luck — I am glad I am old!
