Scott Punahou Hokoana
Scott Punahou Hokoana, 70, of Hilo, died at the Hospice of Hilo — Pohai Malama Care Center on Friday, April 14. He was born in Hilo and was a heavy equipment operator, a member of the Operating Engineers Local 3 and a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War.
Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Sunday, April 30, from 9 to 11 a.m., where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friends may also call at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 on Monday, May 1, where a graveside urn committal service will be held at noon. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by his wife B.J. Anne Hokoana of Honolulu, daughter Moana (Kepa Kekaualua) Hokoana Kelii of Hilo, brothers Clifford (Mary Lou) Hokoana of Pahoa, and Louis “Chappy” (Rosemary) Hokoana of Hilo, sister K. Hualani “Chunky” Toledo of Hilo, granddaughters Cassidy and Courtney Kelii, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dodo Mortuary, Inc. of Hilo assisted the family with arrangements.
Masako Tamura
Masako Tamura of Puhi passed away on April 13 at the age of 92 in Lihue. Born on Feb. 12, 1925 in Lihue, she was a retired housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by husband Teruyoshi Tamura and son-in-law George Tomari.
She is survived by sons Stanley (Darlene) Tamura of Hilo and Patrick (Evelyn) Tamura of Boise, Idaho, daughters Joyce (Stanley) Yamane of Jacksonville, Florida and Evelyn Tomari of Mililani, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be on Saturday, April 29, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with a celebration of life at 11 a.m.
The family requests no monetary gifts.
