Bad timing on recycling woes
So a few days before Earth Day we find out that the recycling centers may not operate for months. Way to manage matters, county!

Kauai’s beauty being abused
The height of hypocrisy: The mayor, County Council and HTA (Hawaii Tourism Authority), Earth Day 2017, are responsible forreading in TGI: “Closed indefinitely — County recycling processing facility … not accepting …”
100,000 visitors per month come Kauai, our residents love Kauai and don’t like:
Mt. Kekaha, 120 feet above sea level or proposed new dump site: Ma‘alo next to beloved Wailua Falls.
The annual budget of HTA: $1 million to bring more tourists — should be abolished. Those taxpayer monies should be usedfor a “state-of-the-art” recycling project on par with Mainland facilities.
PMRF Earth Day event/Merrie Monarch/Aloha ‘Aina: Hogwash: For shame!
Kauai County and HTA leeching off the beauty of Kauai, its crown lands trashed — where’s “common sense” priorities, 2017?
Sincerely with aloha ‘aina,
Bonnie P. Bator and ‘Ohana Keana‘aina, Kaiaokamalie, Keli‘ikoa, Kai, Anahola
Thanks for helping find ‘Kalo’
Mahalo to The Garden Island newspaper. It came to our rescue of our “son” Kalo, who had been missing for three days. All ofour North Shore folks were worried, as were we. Kalo had been missing, only to find out Saturday that he had been hiding inour garage since Wednesday. Our son Keith liberated him when he opened our garage door. My truck had been sitting, lockedup with a dead fuel pump.

Trump OK? No way
I enjoyed Saturday’s article in which local residents were asked to evaluate President Trump’s first 100 days in office. While Idid not vote for Mr. Trump, I’ve tried to take an objective look at his performance so far and I find that I really just have twomain concerns.
First, he is obviously way out of his depth and is utterly unqualified to lead our wonderful country. Second, as a person he ismorally bankrupt, arrogant, smug, narcissistic and heartless, he treats women like scum, and he lies constantly.
Other than that, I guess he’s OK?
