Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Haku said the hau flowers are going to start turning orange because they were created into lei early at the Kauai Community Market.
Yukio Otani, a lei maker from Japan, used the hau blossoms (who would’ve thought to use it as lei material) to create a head lei during his appearance (Sue Kanoho dropped in ahead of the culture and tourism meeting) with Chow and other Kauai lei makers at the Saturday market.
Sandi Kato-Klutke inaugurated her fundraising efforts for her son Max’s wedding coming up later this year, and said she’ll be back every other week with more goodies to sell to help pay for Max’s party.
Liz Hahn said Jannik Evanoff was true to his word and stopped by to serenade her on his violin. She even made a video for posting on social media.
Kudos to Brad Hiranaka and Dan Ahuna for coming out to help with the Rep 50 football camp (too bad there were so many other events which kept the kids away), and mahalo to Tommy Rita (he had a relative playing with Kawaihau Majors All Stars) for the Coke (it really hits the spot when you’re out in the sun for three hours). Tommy also found out he had a relative on the Kawaihau Minors All Stars who will be leaving for the District 1 tournament later this week for play at the Heeia Field in Kaneohe, Oahu!
