LIHUE — Michelle Salvas and Cory Sarmiento, both 38 and of Kapaa, were found guilty Monday of 11 counts of felony possession of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The jury returned its verdict following a week-long trial in front of Judge Randal Valenciano. The pair will be sentenced Oct. 12.
Both were found guilty of multiple counts of promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, all class C felonies.
They face up to five years in prison on each felony count. They also were found guilty of resisting an order to stop their vehicle.
Police approached their vehicle to execute a search warrant but the pair fled, leading police on a chase through the Wailua area, throwing drugs and paraphernalia out of their car.
The car was stopped and searched, leading to the recovery of crystal methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
