Navy, coral, whales topic of Wednesday meeting in Honolulu
HONOLULU — Two councils will be jointly meeting to discuss coral, whales and their ecosystems in Honolulu on Wednesday.
The Reserve Advisory Council for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve — now part of PapahAnaumokuAkea Marine National Monument — and the Advisory Council for NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary will meet at the Pagoda Hotel.
The councils will discuss the Navy’s draft Hawaii-Southern California Training and Testing Environmental Impact Statement and recent presidential executive orders concerning national marine sanctuaries and marine national monuments.
The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. and continues through 4 p.m.
Public comment periods are at 11:50 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.
